Barney is a registered psychologist and clinical psychology registrar. He has 12 years of experience providing psychological care to individuals and couples in private practice, hospital inpatient units, and within the local area health network. He employs evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT); as well as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method for couples.

Barney is also dual-qualified as a medical radiation practitioner, with 30 years of experience caring for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, including 10 years in leadership. As such, he has a keen interest in the intersection of physical and mental health, further informing his therapeutic approach. Barney also enjoys speaking and facilitating workshops.
